The kitchen will always be the heart of your home. From hosting large family Christmas’s, to intimate date nights at home, we completely understand why so much time, money and effort is needed for the creation of a brand new kitchen. When it comes to the finishing touches however, just as much attention to detail is required! Your window dressings, dining room seating and home accessories, will all play a crucial part in making the kitchen the heart of your home. So this month we’ve put together our list of finishing touches that every kitchen needs.
Dress even the smallest window!
That little side window in your kitchen needs to be a part of your kitchen design, just as much as the doors that lead into your garden. We often find a roman blind, or even a faux roman blind, finishes off a small window really nicely, and a faux roman is also very cost effective. Think about having your roman made in a colourful or patterned fabric. Small windows are perfect for adding bolder fabrics that won’t overpower your kitchen.

A quiet corner
If you’ve got an awkward or empty space in your kitchen, consider filling it with a lovely seating area. A cosy reading nook is a great space for adding soft furnishings such as box seat cushions, which can soften the harsh edges and lines you often get in a kitchen. Alternatively, a breakfast seating area is a fantastic way to utilise an odd little corner. Banquet seating upholstered in beautiful fabric, not only looks extremely inviting, but it’s also very practical for giving you more seating, in a much more relaxed and informal environment to a dining room.
Big bi-folds
Last but not least, your bi-fold doors should be dressed in something that frames the gorgeous view of your garden! If you’re wanting to make your kitchen more warm and cosy, opt for lined and interlined curtains, which in the winter will help stop your kitchen feeling cold and dark. If you’re wanting to soften your bi-folds without blocking out the natural sunlight, go for unlined voiles which will diffuse sunlight in the summer months, without completely blocking the lovely view of your garden.
