Viva Magenta!

With Pantone releasing their colour of the year as Viva Magenta, we couldn’t wait to explore this through fabrics, trimmings and home accessories!

What is Viva Magenta?

Panatone has described Viva Magenta as a ‘crimson red tone’, making it a warm, rich, deep colour. Colours such as this are perfect for older homes with lots of character. In addition, deep reds can accentuate the colours found in traditional brickwork and wooden beams, creating cosy and dark spaces perfect for a relaxed living room or snug. Pictured below is a gorgeous little reading nook we created for one of our clients; with crimson red box seat cushions and curtains to match, this space is the perfect cosy hideaway for any bookworm.

How can I bring Viva Magenta into my home?

As this colour is very bold and striking, we suggest starting small and adding in more of the colour over time. For example, you could start with a couple of our beautiful scatter cushions, which are made to order, meaning that you can customise every aspect of the design from fabric, to colour, to the size. Pictured below is the gorgeous Elysium Onyx velvet cushion from Voyage Maison, which has the perfect small touch of Viva Magenta. With the added design detail of a pom pom trimming, all our Voyage Maison cushions are unique in design and vibrant in colour.

Sophie Sews ideas for Viva Magenta…

As many of you may already know, we love bold patterns and colours at Sophie Sews! As Viva Magenta is so rich and striking, we think it would be a beautiful colour to use in a large drawing room, filling each window with floor to ceiling velvet curtains to bring that extra touch of luxury. If your space is on the smaller side, a trim down the lead edge of a curtain or along the bottom of a roman blind would be the perfect way to add a small touch of Viva Magenta into any room.
