Cloud Dancer

Each year, Pantone’s Colour of the Year sets a prediction for what we’re likely to see take over the colour schemes of the design, fashion and interiors industry. For 2026, Pantone have released their Colour of the Year as Cloud Dancer and described it as a colour which “encourages true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe”. With 2025 being a turbulent time politically and economically, Pantone have opted for a colour which symbolises a fresh start to the new year, which I’m sure we can all agree feels very needed!

So, what can we expect Cloud Dancer to do to interior design trends in 2026…

Quiet minimalism

Minimalist interiors have been a popular trend with the likes of designers such as Kelly Hoppen for years now, but Cloud Dancer brings to the forefront the style ‘quiet minimalism’. The main difference between the two is that quiet minimalism isn’t about stark rooms or cold colour palettes, it calls for layering soft and natural textures, using neutral colours as a base to then build your own patterns and colours on top, creating interiors which are homely, personalised and considered.

New year furniture favourites

Pantone’s Cloud Dancer may also influence the furniture we buy this year. High gloss kitchens may be dropped in favour of softer matt finishes, with white washed woods and curved kitchen islands. Coloured sofas have been popular for a while now, but this year we predict neutral colours to be the firm choice for sofas and headboards, with natural fabrics such as wool, cotton and silk to be popular for both upholstered pieces and window dressings.

Wellness driven designs

Wellness and self care has been a massive beauty and fitness trend for 2025, and this year it looks to be filtering through into architectural designs. At home meditation and yoga rooms are becoming more popular, which in turn has seen an increase in people wanting soft voile sheers at their windows, to provide privacy without blocking natural sunlight. We predict architectural designs such as open plan rooms and spa inspired bathrooms to be huge for 2026, due to the naturally calming influence they’ve been known to have.
